ADS-B receiver with GPS module

The ICflyTraffic is a ADS-B receiver with integrated GPS modul. It receives ADS-B signals, sent out by ADS-B transponders of airplanes and transfers their information to other ICfly devices via RS232 protocol on the ICflyBus. The data can be displayed on an ICflyDisplay or redirected to a mobile device via WLAN using an ICflyAHRSII or an ICflyConnect and visualized using a suited application like Sky-Map.

The position data, determined by the GPS module, are transfered over the ICflyBus aswell. The ICflyTraffic has an additional NMEA GPS out channel that can be used as a GPS data source for a mode-S transponder.

The ICflyTraffic can be supplied with power by the ICflyBus or can itself supply power to the ICflyBus.

Features:

  • Receiver for ADS-B signals (1090 MHz)
  • Long range: >100km (with suited Antenna)
  • Integrated GPS receiver
  • GPS data source for mode-S transponder
  • Communication over ICflyBus
  • Connections:
    • GPS antenna (SMA socket)
    • ADS-B antenna (BNC socket)
    • 2x ICflyBus connector
    • Power supply connector for the ICflyBus
    • SD-Card Slot for firmware-updates
  • Supply voltage: 8-24VDC
  • Power-consumption: ca. 2,5W
  • Dimensions: 107x87x34 mm
  • Weight: 206g

Device Configuration

The ICflyTraffic can be configured by several configuration files on the Com microSD-card. Up to now the ICflyTraffic supports the following configuration files.

Config-file editable values
Datachannel.txt baudrates of the serial interfaces
IDfile.txt own transponder ID

Configuration Files

A soon as the ICflyTraffic has been started once, with Com microSD-card inserted, initial configuration files are stored on the card. To modify the files, remove the microSD-card from the ICflyTraffic and open the files with a text-editor on a computer. The card-socket is a push & push type. So to remove the card, you have to push it inwards first. The microSD-card should contain the config-files mentioned above. Their structure and influence on the configuration of the ICflyTraffic is described below.

Datachannel

The Datachannel.txt file looks like this:

# this is a comment
# comment lines and empty lines will be ignored
# please do not insert any Spaces or tabs in the Settingline

#########################################################################################
# baudrate for Datastream
# possible values are: 1200, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600,  115200, 230400, 256000
Up1;230400;
Up2;230400;
Dwn1;230400;
Dwn2;230400;

This file contains all settings of the serial interfaces of the ICflyTraffic. Editing the values, changes the baud rates of the serial interfaces. The displayed configuration sets all baud rates to 230400. Please notice, that only the listed values are valid.

IDfile

The IDfile.txt file looks like this:

# this is a comment
# comment lines and empty lines will be ignored
# please do not insert any Spaces or tabs in the Settingline

#########################################################################################
# insert your MODE-S ICAO 24-bit address as a Hexadecimal Number
# this ID will be ignored by the ICfly Traffic
Ignore_ID;000000;

This file contains the Ignore_ID value. You can enter your own Transponder ID here to be ignored by the ICflyTraffic. If not doing so, your own ID will always be present in the traffic data stream.

Firmwareupdate

The firmware of the ICflyTraffic can be updated via SD-Card. Currently, there are no firmware updates. As soon is there are updates available, they will be listed here
