ICPROX-CAM

ICPROX-CAM
ICPROX-CAM from above

The ICPROX-CAM is the system's rear-area sensor — and the only one. It sees what stands behind the vehicle, even when that thing carries no tag.

Part number 902.233.

It thereby covers what radio positioning cannot: ICPROX-P detects people and vehicles by their tag. Fixed and uninvolved objects — pallets, walls, parked trailers — carry none.

How it works

The ICPROX-CAM evaluates two methods together:

  • The camera detects edges in the image — outlines of objects, racking feet, walls.
  • A built-in time-of-flight sensor measures distance and confirms the edges found. Whatever it does not confirm is discarded.

An obstacle is registered only where both methods agree: a contour with a matching depth edge. Contrast changes without a depth step — shadows, floor markings, joints — are discarded, as are range readings without a matching contour.

Mounting

Where the camera belongs depends on the size of the vehicle and on what is to be secured:

  • High at the rear of the roof — one camera overlooking the whole rear area
  • Left and right at the rear of the counterweight — two cameras, where the view from the roof is not enough or the vehicle is wide

What the driver sees

On the display the rear area appears as a semicircle in four sectors. Each sector carries the colour of the reduction level currently applying to it — so a glance shows where something is behind, not merely that something is.

The state of the camera itself appears in field R of the status display: green when it is working, yellow or red on a fault, grey when none is fitted. See The status display N · P · R.

Setting up

The rear-area sensors are enabled in the control unit. There you can also specify that they act only when reversing — the system then evaluates them once reverse gear is engaged.

Which relays the camera pulls at which level is set in the action matrix under the source rear area — see The three reduction levels and the action matrix.
