ICTRAC anchors

The anchors are the stationary half of the ICTRAC system. They are mounted in the building, surveyed precisely, and receive the radio pulses of the tags. From the times of flight to several anchors the system computes the position of every tag in three coordinates.

They are connected and powered over Power over Ethernet — one cable per anchor, no second power supply and no socket at the mounting point.

Anchor PoE

ICTRAC Anchor PoE

The standard anchor for halls and warehouses. Power and data run over the same Ethernet cable.

Anchor IP65

ICTRAC Anchor IP65

The same anchor in an enclosure to protection class IP65: dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction. For areas that get cleaned down, for cold stores, outdoor areas and anywhere moisture occurs.

The enclosure is considerably larger for it — 200 mm instead of 140 along its longest edge.

Beacon 55

ICTRAC Beacon 55

A cube of 55 mm edge length with a built-in power supply, designed to fit a flush-mounted box. The mounting point then needs no Ethernet cable, only mains — which in a building is available almost everywhere.

Mounting and surveying

  1. Place the anchors so that every point of the area is seen by several anchors — accuracy comes from overlap, not from sheer numbers.
  2. Connect them. One Ethernet cable per PoE anchor; the Beacon 55 is wired to mains.
  3. Survey them. The position of each anchor is determined precisely and entered into the system. These coordinates underpin every later position calculation — care saved here shows up in every measurement.
  4. Check. Walk the area with a tag and compare the computed position against the actual one.
