Interface modules
Interface modules join what does not fit together: a microcontroller to a USB port, an RS-232 line to a UART, a PC to an RS-485 bus. They are ready-built assemblies; on the USB side the driver of the respective converter chip is required.

Which module?
| Module | Connects | Distinctive feature | Part number |
|---|---|---|---|
![]() USB-A UART Bridge CP2104 | USB-A ↔ UART | Supplies the microcontroller with up to 100 mA from USB, GPIOs 0–3 usable | 901.077 |
![]() USB-A UART Bridge CP2102 | USB-A ↔ UART | The slim classic, plugs straight into the socket | 901.023 |
![]() USB-B UART Bridge CP2102 | USB-B ↔ UART | A fixed socket instead of a plug — for building into a device | 901.190 |
![]() USB UART Bridge ISO | USB-B ↔ UART | Galvanically isolated — where ground loops or potential differences threaten | |
![]() USB-RS485-Bridge | USB ↔ RS-485 | For the fieldbus; also available in an enclosure | 901.274 |
![]() USB-B-RS232 Bridge | USB-B ↔ RS-232 | Replaces the serial port the computer no longer has | |
![]() RS232(DTE)-UART-Bridge | RS-232 ↔ UART | Level shifter, DTE wiring — the device presents itself as terminal equipment | 901.191 |
![]() RS232(DCE)-UART-Bridge | RS-232 ↔ UART | Level shifter, DCE wiring — its counterpart | 901.193 |
DTE or DCE? The two RS-232 bridges differ in how the send and receive lines are assigned. A null-modem cable swaps those lines and lets one variant serve in place of the other.
Radio link instead of cable: the ICT RS485 Radio Bridge carries the same serial data over 868 MHz and thereby replaces the cable between two nodes.
The modules in detail
USB-A UART Bridge CP2104
USB-A UART Bridge CP2104
The USB-UART-Bridge connects UART components with a USB-Host. The Bridge generates a 3.45V Voltage from USB. This can be used to supply the microcontroller over a jumper (maximum 100mA@3.45V).
Features:
- Baud rate: 300Bit/sec up to 2MBit/sec
- GPIOs 0-3 are set to push/pull at delivery state! (so LEDs, TxEN and GPIO are working)
- Voltage-regulator: up to 100mA@3.45V
- LEDs: Power, RX and TX
- IO: RX ( to connect with RX on the µC),TX (to connect with TX on the µC), GND, VCC
- Size: (LxWxH)(mm): 52.0 x 17.0 x 5.2
