The In-Circuit radino32 SX1272 combines an STM32L151 with the SX1272 RF Transceiver in a small form-factor EMC-compliant module. The core of the radino32 SX1272 is the powerful STM32L151 by STMicroelectronics, which with 32-bit ARM® Cortex®-M3 CPU, 32 kbyte RAM, 256 kbyte Flash and 8 kbyte EPROM provides enough resources for complex functionalities.
The radino32 SX1272 is part of the radino-series, which supplies compact wireless modules. All radino Modules are pin-to-pin compatible.

Software

The modules ship unprogrammed — with no application in memory. What runs on them is written by the customer.

Your own programs go in as a .bin file using stm32flash over the serial interface — see radino32 software. The examples and drivers are there as well.

Note for Windows: Windows fits the bootloader with the wrong driver. Setting the right one is described under radino32 software too.

Range test

For some range tests we used two radino32 SX1272 on radino Spider RP-SMA and a 15 cm antenna with 868 MHz.

Long range test

29.5 km transmission with the radino32 SX1272 from Dresden „Rockauer Höhe“ to Altenberg „Geisingberg“ with long range settings.

Settings:

  • Bandwidth: 125 kHz

  • Spreading Factor: 12

  • Coding Rate: 4/8

  • Payload Length: 9 Byte

  • Preamble: 8 Symbols

  • CRC: on

  • Frequency: 868 MHz

  • Transmit Power: 20 dBm

  • Transmitter: N51.02635°, E13.86242°

  • Receiver: N50.76824°, E13.76482°
