3 Inbetriebnahme in sechs Schritten3 Commissioning in six steps
- Montieren und anschließen: Beide Funkbridges montieren, Antennen anschrauben, serielle Leitungen an den Klemmen auflegen (RS485: A auf A, B auf B; oder RS232).
- Versorgen: Versorgungsspannung (8–24 V DC) anlegen.
- Mount and connect: Mount both radio bridges, fit the antennas and wire the serial lines to the terminals (RS485: A to A, B to B; or RS232).
- Power up: Apply the supply voltage (8–24 V DC). The units start within a few seconds.
- Switch on Wi-Fi: Press the BSL button briefly — the blue LED lights up and the unit
opens the network
ICT-Funkbridge(password12345678). - Open the web interface: Connect to that network and open
http://192.168.42.1in your browser. - Configure: Set the interface (port, baud rate, format) to match your equipment, then choose “Apply & Store”. Both bridges must carry identical radio settings (the factory settings already match).
- Verify: In addressed operation (section 4.3) the status card of the web interface shows “peer reachable” together with the signal level (RSSI) as soon as the counterpart is powered and within range. As delivered (broadcast), the indication only appears while data from the counterpart is arriving; without traffic it reads “no peer”. Then switch the Wi-Fi off again with the BSL button.
4 Konfiguration (Weboberfläche)4 Configuration (web interface)
4.1 Schnittstelle4.1 Serial interface
| Einstellung | Bedeutung |
|---|---|
| Bridge-Port | RS485 (Halbduplex, 2-Draht) oder RS232 |
| Baudrate | 1200 Bd … 1 MBd.
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Bridge port | RS485 (half duplex, 2-wire) or RS232 |
| Baud rate | 1200 Bd … 1 MBd. Must match the connected application. The baud rate may exceed the radio data rate — short bursts are absorbed by the buffer; only the average amount of data has to stay below the radio capacity (section 5.2). |
| Format | 8N1 · 8N2 · 8E1 · 8E2 · 8O1 · 8O2 (data bits, parity, stop bits) |
| Frame mode | For Modbus RTU: the bridge outputs data only once a complete frame has been received — frames are never split by radio packet boundaries. |
4.2 Funk4.2 Radio
| Einstellung | Bedeutung |
|---|---|
Werkseinstellung 4000 ms |
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Frequency | Factory setting 868.30 MHz (matches the antenna circuit of the unit) |
| Radio data rate | 4800 / 38400 / 100000 / 250000 Bd — higher rate = more throughput, lower rate = more range |
| Transmit power | +10 dBm or −0.5 dBm |
| Radio channel | 0–255 — different channels allow several bridge pairs at the same site |
| Robust mode | Error correction: less throughput, but more range and immunity to interference |
| Buffer grace period | How long data is buffered at most during a radio disturbance (section 5.3). Factory setting 4000 ms |
4.3 Netzwerk (erweitert) — adressierter Betrieb4.3 Network (advanced) — addressed operation
Für den Produktivbetrieb erhalten die Geräte Adressen: Bridge A z. B.
Eigene ID 01 / Ziel-ID 02, Bridge B spiegelbildlich
For production use the units are given addresses: bridge A for example own ID
01 / target ID 02, bridge B the other way round
02 / 01. This activates acknowledged transmission with
automatic retries, and several pairs can coexist (using different network IDs or channels).
In addition, the units exchange a sign of life every second when there is no traffic, so the
status card shows the link permanently. Both units must carry the same network ID.
4.4 Verschlüsselung4.4 Encryption
K:<32 Hex-Zeichen> eingeben, danach A (anwenden) und
S (speichern). K:off stellt den Standardschlüssel wieder her.
The radio link is always encrypted and authenticated with AES-128 — ex works with a
default key shared by the product family, so that foreign devices can neither eavesdrop nor
inject data. For confidential data we recommend assigning your own, installation-specific
key (32 hex characters, identical on both units). This is done through the USB service
interface: connect a terminal program at 115200 baud and enter
K:<32 hex characters>, followed by A (apply) and
S (store). K:off restores the default key. The current state
(default or custom key) is shown in the web interface.

| Anzeige | Bedeutung |
|---|---|
| Weboberfläche: Statistik | Gesendete/empfangene Pakete, Wiederholungen, Auth-Fehler, verworfene Bytes — nützlich zur Ferndiagnose. Stark steigende Wiederholungen zeigen eine gestörte Funkstrecke an (Kap. 5.3). |
| LED blau an | WLAN-Konfigurationsmodus aktiv |
| Indication | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Web interface: “peer reachable” (green) | The counterpart was received within the last 3.5 s; the signal level (RSSI) is shown next to it. In broadcast operation (as delivered) only while data is flowing. Guide values: better than −70 dBm = very good, −70…−90 dBm = good, below −95 dBm = marginal. |
| Web interface: statistics | Packets sent and received, retries, auth errors, discarded bytes — useful for remote diagnosis. Rapidly rising retries indicate a disturbed radio link (section 5.3). |
| Blue LED on | Wi-Fi configuration mode active |
| Red LED flashes | Data received over the radio link is being output on the serial interface |
| Red and blue LED permanently on | See section 7 |
5.2 Durchsatz5.2 Throughput
Nutzbarer Dauerdurchsatz der Funkstrecke:
Usable continuous throughput of the radio link:
| Funk-Datenrate / Betriebsart | Dauerdurchsatz | Geeignet für serielle Dauerlast bis |
|---|---|---|
| 250 000 Bd, eine Richtung | ≈ 7 kB/s | 57600 Bd durchgehend belegt |
| 250 000 Bd, beide Richtungen gleichzeitig | ≈ 7,5 kB/s (Summe) | 2 × 28800 Bd durchgehend belegt |
| 250 000 Bd + Robust-Modus | ≈ 6 kB/s | 57600 Bd durchgehend belegt |
| 100 000 Bd, eine Richtung | ≈ 5 kB/s | 38400 Bd durchgehend belegt |
| Radio data rate / mode | Continuous throughput | Supports continuous serial load up to |
|---|---|---|
| 250,000 Bd, one direction | ≈ 7 kB/s | 57600 Bd fully occupied |
| 250,000 Bd, both directions at once | ≈ 7.5 kB/s (total) | 2 × 28800 Bd fully occupied |
| 250,000 Bd + robust mode | ≈ 6 kB/s | 57600 Bd fully occupied |
| 100,000 Bd, one direction | ≈ 5 kB/s | 38400 Bd fully occupied |
Typischer Frage-Antwort-Verkehr (z.
Typical request/response traffic (e. g. Modbus polling) uses the radio link particularly efficiently — the combined throughput in both directions is even higher than in one direction alone.
Typical fieldbus applications (polling cycles, Modbus polling) occupy the line only to a fraction — high baud rates (115200 Bd and above) are then no problem at all, as long as the average amount of data stays below the continuous throughput.
5.3 Pufferung und Gnadenfrist5.3 Buffering and grace period
In addressed operation no data is lost during radio disturbances: the unit retries automatically and buffers incoming data (32 kB per direction). To avoid delivering stale data after a longer outage, a grace period applies: data that has been waiting longer than the configured time (factory setting 4 seconds) is discarded — once the link returns, current data is delivered immediately. For polling protocols such as Modbus a short grace period (500–1000 ms) is advisable, for data loggers a longer one. In broadcast operation (as delivered) there are no retries; a disturbed packet is lost.
