ICPROX-N
Systembeschreibung — Der stationäre Teil des ICPROX-Kollisionsschutzes: Gefahrenpunkte, Tore und Zonen
System Description — The stationary part of the ICPROX collision protection system: danger points, gates and zones
1 Überblick1 Overview
ICPROX-N is the stationary part of the ICPROX system: the infrastructure in the building. Modules mounted at junctions, gates and hazardous locations detect vehicles within an adjustable radius by ultra-wideband radio and react immediately — with a beacon, a horn or a barrier on site, and with a reduction request to the vehicle itself. There is never a cable between building and vehicle: the modules work autonomously and need neither a line to the vehicle nor a central system.
- Danger points (spots) act locally: a vehicle entering their radius is slowed down and is free again once it leaves
- Gates act permanently: when a vehicle passes through, they hand it a zone that it keeps until the next gate — a different speed limit in the warehouse than in production, for example
- Set up with slide switches on the device alone — no PC, no software
- Retrofittable in a single morning, without touching a vehicle at all
- Expandable step by step, from a single danger point to a whole building
1.1 Abgrenzung zu ICPROX-P1.1 How it differs from ICPROX-P
| Teilsystem | Aufgabe |
|---|---|
| Subsystem | Task |
|---|---|
| ICPROX-N — in the building | Stationary danger points, gates and zones. The modules act on the vehicles autonomously by radio — with no cable to the vehicle at all |
| ICPROX-P — on the vehicle | Vehicle-mounted locating: control unit, display and one to three UWB antennas detect people, AGVs and other vehicles nearby |
Each part is useful on its own, but the two can be joined: an additional antenna on the control unit makes the ICPROX-P vehicle a participant in the building network, so that it also responds to danger points and gates. Conversely, for a vehicle that only needs to respond to the infrastructure, a single ICPROX-4R2I as its vehicle unit is all it takes (chapter 4).
2 Komponenten2 Components
| Komponente | Artikel | Aufgabe im ICPROX-N-System |
|---|---|---|
| Component | Part no. | Task within the ICPROX-N system |
|---|---|---|
| ICPROX-4R2I | 902.199B | The core device: infrastructure module with four volt-free relays, two digital inputs (24 V) and an eight-way indicator strip. Depending on its switch settings it works as a danger point (SPOT), zone transition (GATE), vehicle unit (TAG) or in cable operation (EXTRA) |
| ICPROX-ANT | 902.218 | UWB antenna module. On the device line of the control unit it links an ICPROX-P vehicle by radio to the danger points and gates; on the antenna line the very same module serves as a locating antenna. It recognises its role automatically from the connected line |
| ICPROX-SEC | 902.206 | Access control with RFID cards — on the vehicle as driver authorisation (also together with the 4R2I as vehicle unit) or stationary at a door for a short-term release by card |
| ICPROX-Display | 902.217 | Touch display on the ICPROX-P vehicle: alongside people it also shows the detected danger points, gates and the current zone |
Each component has its own manual; the links are listed in chapter 5.
A danger point requests a reduction from every vehicle within its detection radius (1.5 to 19 m, set on the device) and at the same time switches its local relays — for a beacon or a horn, say. Device groups separate types of traffic: a danger point in group 1 lets vehicles whose filter only accepts group 2 pass without reacting.
A gate always consists of two units — one per side, carrying the zone number of that side. The vehicle compares the distances to both and adopts the zone of the nearer one; the direction of travel follows from that by itself. A gate therefore needs neither a light barrier nor any direction sensing. With several gates, every gate gets its own device group, and both units of one gate share it.
3 Aufbau einer Anlage3 How an installation is put together
Within the ICPROX-N system there are two kinds of connections — and one deliberate gap:
- Radio (UWB): The only link between building and vehicle. Danger points and gates reach the vehicles exclusively by radio.
- Device line (N bus, RS485): One shared twisted-pair shielded cable through which, on the ICPROX-P vehicle, the display, the access control unit and the antenna for the building link are connected to the control unit. On the stationary side the same kind of line links several 4R2I modules to each other (cable operation) and connects an access control unit.
- No cable between building and vehicle: Every stationary danger point only has its own 24 V supply and its locally wired relays and inputs.
For the operator this means: a new danger point is mounted, powered and configured with its slide switches — done. Nothing needs changing on the vehicles or in any central system; every vehicle within range responds immediately.
3.1 Wie ein Fahrzeug teilnimmt3.1 How a vehicle takes part
| Fahrzeugausstattung | Anbindung an ICPROX-N |
|---|---|
| Vehicle equipment | Link to ICPROX-N |
|---|---|
| ICPROX-4R2I as vehicle unit (TAG mode) | The module receives the requests from the danger points directly by radio and carries them out through its own relays — with no further devices on the vehicle (chapter 4) |
| ICPROX-P system (control unit, display, antennas) | An additional ICPROX-ANT on the device line links the control unit to the infrastructure by radio; the reaction is applied through the control unit's relays, and the display shows danger points and the current zone |
4 Das ICPROX-4R2I als eigenständige Anlage4 The ICPROX-4R2I as a self-contained system
ICPROX-N works entirely without a control unit or display: a complete installation can be built from ICPROX-4R2I modules alone — stationary danger points and gates in the building, plus one module as a vehicle unit on every vehicle that is meant to react. Each module runs on its own 24 V supply and is configured exclusively through its four switch blocks — no PC, no software, no central system.
4.1 Die vier Betriebsarten4.1 The four operating modes
| Betriebsart | Einsatz |
|---|---|
| Mode | Application |
|---|---|
| SPOT — danger point | Stationary at a hazardous location. Detects vehicles within the set radius, switches the local relays and requests a reduction from the vehicle |
| GATE — zone transition | At gates and zone boundaries. Acts like a danger point and additionally hands the vehicle the zone it is entering beyond the gate |
| TAG — vehicle unit | Fitted to a vehicle. Receives the requests from the danger points and carries them out through its own relays — a self-contained vehicle solution |
| EXTRA — cable operation | Without radio locating: the inputs switch the relays, and every module connected through the device line adopts the same state |
4.2 Konfiguration über Schiebeschalter4.2 Configuration with slide switches
Four blocks of four switches define the entire behaviour:
- Operating mode and mode options — SPOT, GATE, TAG or EXTRA; plus, depending on the mode, inner reduction, short range, normally-closed contacts, access control or the gate level (zone number 0 to 3)
- Detection radius — base radius 4 m (1.5 m with short range) plus additions up to 19 m
- Relay R4 and device group — the push-button function of the fourth relay and the group 0 to 3; on the vehicle unit the group filter instead
- Spot function and display style — normal operation, no vehicle reduction, SmartPass (early release as the vehicle moves away) or TwinProx (reduction only from two vehicles onwards); plus four display styles of the indicator strip
The switch settings are read at power-up; after every change, briefly switch the power off. Every switch combination in detail, the behaviour in each operating mode and the troubleshooting are described in the ICPROX-4R2I manual; an illustrated configuration aid shows every combination as a switch picture (links in chapter 5).
